Are you a Chef or Restauranteur curious or seeking opportunities to learn more about wholesome plant-based and vegan cuisines? Do you have requests from clients and customers for healthy food options and you want to learn more about meeting increasing niche demand? Or do you generally want to understand the basis or reason for the plant-based diets better?
Then this workshop is for you!
As the culinary industry grows, the consumer demand and food options continue to evolve. This is due to various underlying factors such as the need for better health outcomes, carbon footprint reduction, improved environmental health, and growing concerns to reduce animal cruelty. Therefore, there is a growing demand for plant-based diets varying from flexitarian choices to completely vegan diets. However, based on our preliminary research of vegans, vegetarians, and flexitarians in Africa, over 65% indicate that it is difficult to get their preferred plant-based diets in restaurants, supermarkets, food vendors, and other food businesses.
To address this crucial gap, we are embarking on a mission to educate and train Chefs across Africa on plant-based cuisines and how to better meet this growing consumer demand. Our inception activities to achieve this goal include a series of Workshop for Chefs on Plant-based diets which will provide the following benefits:
- Orientation and awareness on plant-based foods and veganism (what it means and why it exists)
- Education on the role of Chefs in supporting the adoption of plant-based diets
- Practical discourse on plant-based culinary and recipes, exploring local foods, and alternative proteins.
With the above-listed benefits, you are specially invited to the first in our series of enriching and educative workshop organized in collaboration with our host Red Dish Chronicles Culinary School, and with support from ProVeg .
